A short piece that ends the devastatingly beautiful Happy/Sad album, "Sing a Song for You" is a meditation on the release that the singing and artistic process promises. Backed by a simple yet elegant folk-jazz melody, Buckley uses this base to convey his melancholy spirit, which hopes that music will heal a broken heart. Buckley also addresses his personal demons, and admits that his spirit indeed "dances with the devil."
