One of the more understated songs from the overtly funky Welcome to L.A., "Hong Kong Bar" has a loose, bluesy acoustic vibe, and this is crossed well with Buckley's burning erotic leanings that permeate the rest of the record. Based in a simple blues-funk pattern with a fine ascending acoustic 12-string guitar riff, the song has a great atmosphere, and it sounds as if it was recorded at the place described in the title, at 3:00 a.m.
